A dozen practical strategies to take the "shhh!" out of your school library and get the kids in

  • Do you need some fresh ideas for your school library class visits?
  • Are you looking to make your library a fun place to be where kids want to hang out?
  • Do you want to create lifelong readers?

Enthusiastic, passionate, and creative with a wee touch of crazy, primary school librarian Marama Keyte is always thinking outside the box to encourage her students to use their library.

In this presentation Marama will share a range of easy, practical and fun ideas to get your school library buzzing, including :
using picture books during class visits, story mapping, character book days and special events, makerspace ideas, fun games, using circle time songs with junior classes, promoting books, creative display ideas, using e books and audio books to encourage reluctant readers, shelving by genre, promoting your library school-wide through your blog, creating relationships with your local kindy, working in partnership with your local public library and much more....

This event is for anyone who is interested in enlivening their library time,
whether you wear a librarian or teacher hat!
Though aimed more at primary / intermediate than secondary level, ALL are welcome.
